About Dr. Jon Valentine
Dr. Valentine trained at Leeds University and qualified Bachelor of Medicine (MB) & Bachelor of Surgery (ChB) in July 1986. He gained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of London (MRCP) in November 1989 and Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in July 1992. He gained his certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST) in anaesthetics in July 1996. In October 2007, he was admitted a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FFPMRCA). He was elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in May 2009.
Dr. Valentine was appointed "Consultant in Anaesthetics and Pain Management" at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital in October 1996. His clinical practice has been dedicated wholly to Pain Management since September 2001 at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital and the Priscilla Bacon Centre, Specialist Palliative Care Unit.
Dr. Valentine has been preparing Pain Management medical reports for the court since March 1999. Many of his reports relate to claimants with symptoms of chronic pain persisting beyond the expected healing period and not infrequently associated with a higher level of disability than might be expected.
Number of reports:
Dr. Valentine currently prepares in the region of eight new Pain Management medical reports addressed to the Court on average each month. Up-to-date numerical details of the origin of the solicitors instructions he has received since commencing his medicolegal practice in 1999 are available in the table below.
Court Attendance:
Dr. Valentine has attended court on 3 occasions. On the occasions that he has been required to give oral evidence he has received very positive feedback from judges and solicitors.
In 2002, he was present at Cambridge County Court as the claimant's pain management expert for the whole of a 3-day hearing, and he gave oral evidence to the court on the 3rd day.
In 2006, he was present at Cambridge County Court as the claimant's pain management expert for the whole of a 4-day hearing, and the case settled on the morning of the 4th day just before the medical evidence was to be given.
In May 2007, he gave oral evidence as the claimant's pain management expert at Norwich County Court on the second day of a 2-day hearing.

Medicolegal Services
Dr. Valentine provides specialist pain management medical reports for the court following instruction by personal injury and medical negligence solicitors. Reports can follow full interview and examination of claimants plus study of relevant documentation, or they can be based entirely upon documentation such as medical records and reports.
Dr. Valentine is aware of the Civil Procedures Rules, including the 50th Update which introduced the changes that came into force on 1 October 2009. He accepts instructions from claimants' solicitors, defendants' solicitors and insurance companies. He accepts instructions as a single joint expert and will take on medical negligence work.
Lectures & educational meetings:
